Copperbloom Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, wonky trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short and thick and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bright purple and blue.

In early spring, it produces balls of giant, caramel blossoms with 8 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like skunk spray.

In early winter it produces small, oblong fruit. The fuzzy copper skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy peach flesh is savoury and powdery. The bright red seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

It is extremely resistant to fire damage.
