Clinging Silverbark

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 40 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous sturdy, slanted stems covered in very thick, cracked, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are long and slender with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, circular, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally pink, flexible and leathery.

It produces several medium-sized, lilac flowers with fan-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like cheap aftershave. In early summer it forms tinycrimson, winged seeds that float and land far away.


It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for making paper
