It takes 3 months for the gray stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 1 cm (0.4 inches) and remain soft and fleshy.
The thick, crispy leaves reach up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length. They are azure and cream, and have toothed edges.
During late spring, the creeper produces hundreds of large blood red flowers, and during the early winter, after flowering, it produces plenty of large seed pods.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
