Bloodfire Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 61 feet (18.6 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 3 very thin stems. Each stem is orange-yellow, and is covered in lots of flexible red spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are blood red at the sides and light grey at the center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like pineapple.

The cactus's skin is tough, the aquamarine flesh is soft, and the pink sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
