Azure Spineflower

This small caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The thin stem is green, and is covered in handfuls of fine, cream, hair-like spines. It has a angular, thick, orange trunk atop a stumpy web of rough, exposed roots. The branches are wide and white and beige and are very long and slender.

The ripped-edged, fan-like leaves are a shade of gray that gradient shifts to azure at the top. They are hardy, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 11 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are blood red at the sides and light grey at the center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 58 petals. It has a weak scent that smells like cotton.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the aquamarine flesh is waxy, and the blue sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
