This emerald moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas In bogs.
It is giant, growing up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is slightly rigid.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release dozens of spores.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
