Burgundy Spore Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In damp forests, In bogs, and In moorlands.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is slightly rigid.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release millions of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
