Clinging Vinefruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in knobbly, yellow bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of giant, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either red or pink, with lime patches.

In early spring, it produces a handful of large, slate blossoms with 3 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like fish.

In early summer it produces , cuboid fruit. The fuzzy cyan skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft brown flesh is sour and dry. The gold seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It can grow in even the most barren lands.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
