Chocolate Olive Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in thick, rough, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is white with black speckles.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of huge, cylindrical leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in dark yellow and slate varieties.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, green blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like chocolate.

In early summer it produces , broad, flat fruit. The smooth cyan skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy olive flesh is sweet and very juicy. The vibrant green seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
