Bloodfire Caudex

This colossal caudiciform grows up to 122 feet (37.2 meters) tall. The very thin stem is violet, and is covered in handfuls of flexible olive spines. The thick, gnarled, blood red trunk can grow to as much as 122 feet (37.2 meters) in diameter. Its orange branches are long and slender.

The ripped-edged, pleated leaves are crimson and silver. They are sturdy and flexible, and take some effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 14 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are cream in the center, peach in the middle and turquoise at the edges grows at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like grass cuttings.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the pastel orange flesh is waxy, and the white sap is thin.
