Clinging Conifer

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 44 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of narrow, straight stems covered in paper-thin, cracked, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are long and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of large, perforated, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are red at the bottom and brown with orange streaks at the top, rigid and clammy.

In mid-summer it produces handfuls of giant, bronze blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a powerful scent that smells like pot-purri.

In mid-autumn small pleated fruits ripen. The smooth green skin is stretchy and sweet, and the crunchy black flesh is spicy and sticky. The bronze seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
