Burgundy Bog Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In bogs, and In heathlands.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is slightly light; it takes a lot of damage when trodden on.
When mature, emerald teardrop-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release millions of spores.

It is difficult to cut through.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
