Copperleaf

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is wispy and straight, and the large, copper leaves are dark copper on the underside and are perforated with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

4 to 6 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 23 cm (9.1 inches) wide, with caramel petals on the lower layer and cream petals decorated with green dots on the inner layer. The central disk is azure. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like bleach, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The pollen is overwhelmingly toxic to people but not to certain animals.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
