Golden Glueflower

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are wispy and straight, and split into many branching stems at the base, and the large, red leaves are very thin with smooth edges. 29 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Each stem splits 5 to 8 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with solid gold petals decorated with grey lines and a dark brown central disk. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of 9 widely spaced, narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a strong scent that smells like glue, and it has lots of pollen, but it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
