Crimson Silverfruit
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Evergreen - keeps its leaves all year round)This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 69 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a slender, slanted trunk covered in thin, cracked, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.
The extensive patches of branches are very long and thin and are covered with large amounts of huge, long, tapering leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are silver with crimson tips.
In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, peach blossoms with flame-shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like musk.
In early summer it produces very large, broad, flat fruit. The smooth cream skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the very soft white flesh is salty and syrupy. The florescent orange seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
It is extremely resistant to fire damage.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
