Caramel Blossom Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, wonky trunk covered in cracked, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very short and slender and are covered with large amounts of large, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either green or copper, with caramel lines.

In early spring, it produces thousands of giant, brown blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like sweat.

In late summer it produces tiny, oval fruit. The fuzzy light grey skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy pink flesh is sweet and salty and very dry. The grey seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

All parts of the flower are edible.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
