Twining Silverleaf Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 71 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in fine, cracked, burgundy bark, and inside, the very light wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, fan-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are silver on the edges and white at the center.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, olive blossoms with kidney-shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like bleach.

In early winter it produces small, pleated fruit. The leathery cyan skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is bitter, and the slightly crunchy indigo flesh is sweet and powdery. The grey seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
