Clinging Indigo Petal

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its brown stem is very thin, and the tiny, hazel or violet leaves are pleated with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with indigo petals and a silver central disk. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of dozens of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has an intense scent that smells like cheap aftershave, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

The sap is edible and overwhelmingly spicy.
