Clinging Maple
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 44 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has several stocky, wonky stems covered in smooth, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.
The branches are long and slender with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of small, finger-like, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and florescent red, resilient and soft.
In early summer it produces lots of medium-sized, sky blue flowers with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like pine needles.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The leaves are high in natural sugars.
