Copperfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This large fruit tree grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 76 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, slanted trunk covered in thick, cracked, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either washed-out yellow or violet, with slate lines.

In early spring, it produces bunches of tiny, blue blossoms with perforated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like onion.

In late summer it produces tiny, finger-like fruit. The clammy green skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is bitter, and the soft blood red flesh is savoury and oily. The caramel seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It can survive a very long time without water.
