Copper Spine Succulent

This short caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is orange, and is covered in many rigid lime spines. The round, hazel trunk can grow to as much as 9 feet (2.7 meters) in diameter. Its grey and emerald branches trail down towards the ground.

The smooth-edged, long, tapering leaves are either grey or slate, with olive patches. They are sturdy and flexible, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 22 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with slate petals and a pink central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of handfuls of raised, round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like burning wood.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the lime flesh is leathery, and the copper sap is thin.
