Its orange stem is very thick and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, yellow-green leaves are needle-like with ripped edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.
Around 60 small flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 18 cm (7.1 inches) wide, with petals that are orange at the sides and lime at the center. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. They fall easily.
It has a powerful scent that smells like coconut, and it has lots of pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The stems are covered in large spikes.
