Crimson Spine Succulent

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall. The very thick stem is orange, and is dotted with small florescent red spines. The stumpy leaves are generally red. Copious amounts of them grow on very thick, crimson and dark yellow branches that trail down to the ground. The leaves are resilient, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with bronze petals and a white central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 19 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like damp.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the lilac flesh is slimy, and the lilac sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
