Spineleaf Starflower

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thousands of rigid brown spines. The round, olive trunk can grow to as much as 11 feet (3.4 meters) in diameter. Its caramel and green branches are short stubs.

The smooth-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are a shade of lime that gradient shifts to subtle green at the top. They are light, but do not detach easily.

It is quick growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are red on the edges and blood red at the center grows at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is shaped like a star with 20 raised, round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like meat.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the cream flesh is smooth, and the caramel sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
