Blue Spine Cactus

This small cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The wide stem is green, and is covered in many flexible white spines.

It is slow growing, taking 26 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are green in the center, indigo in the middle and lime at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of dozens of widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like a newborn baby.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the bold orange flesh is rough, and the deep blue sap is thin.
