Desert Willow

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 72 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many thick, curved stems covered in paper-thin, cracked, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, very thick, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid dark brown or beige, with purple zig-zags, hardy and leathery.

It produces a handful of tiny, white flowers with teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like freshly washed clothes. In late winter it forms medium-sizedwhite, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
