This copper moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In damp forests.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps, and is extremely durable.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release dozens of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
The entire plant is edible and the grains areslightly bitter.
