Clinging Bluebell

This modest-sized flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its green stem is thin and splits into dozens of branching stems halfway up, and the small, faded blue leaves are thick with irregular edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

6 to 11 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are either muted red or cream, with a yellow center. The flower head is made up of 43 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. They are very delicate.

It has a powerful scent that smells like freshly washed clothes, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
