Black Marsh Moss

This black moss is commonly found growing in large clumps On rotten logs, and In marshes.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is slightly delicate; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release millions of spores.
