Crimson Spine Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is pink-red, and is covered in hundreds of rigid cyan spines. The bulbous, bronze trunk can grow to as much as 25 feet (7.6 meters) in diameter. Its cream branches trail down across the ground.

The smooth-edged, stiff, pointed leaves are dark grey and silver. They are resilient, and take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are either olive or crimson, with a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. It has a weak scent that smells like petrol.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the hazel flesh is sticky, and the azure sap is thin.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
