Bronze

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 45 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many flexible, straight stems covered in thick, cracked, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are long and thick that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, long, narrow, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bronze and yellow, flimsy and soft.

In late summer it produces lots of tiny, beige blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like soap.

In early autumn circular fruits ripen. The soft turquoise skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy dark grey flesh is salty and powdery. The black seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.
