Bronze

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 120 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous slender, straight stems covered in waxy, gray bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of large, spear shaped, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are white at the bottom and bronze with gold splotches at the top, light and clammy.

In mid-spring it produces lots of giant, yellow blossoms with 7 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In mid-autumn pleated fruits ripen. The hairy yellow skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy hazel flesh is spicy and oily. The green seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
