Coniapple Tree

This giant fruit tree grows up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 67 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in thick, ridged, light gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown.

The small bunches of branches are very long and slender and are covered with large amounts of giant, asymmetrical leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either indigo or lime, with red edges.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, yellow blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like soap.

In late autumn it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The rubbery magenta skin is stretchy and sweet and spicy, and the very soft white flesh is extremely sweet and oily. The olive seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
