Turquoise

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized leaf succulent grows up to 69 feet (21.0 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is red, and is covered in large amounts of flexible orange spines. The smooth-edged, thick leaves are found in turquoise and faded red varieties. Very large amounts of them grow from the base in a random bunch. The leaves are soft and flexible, but do not detach easily.

It is quick growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are lime on the edges and orange at the center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of tightly layered round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like a damp log.

The leaf succulent's skin is delicate, the blood red flesh is waxy, and the ashy yellow sap is thin.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for making strong rope
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and can be used to make numerous baked goods.
