Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 677 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of rough, tiny, fan-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid cream with muted orange streaks.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, beige, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
