Blood Red Daisy

This average-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its blood red or amber stems grow in bunches of 8 and are thin with a curved tip, and the large, moss green leaves are 9 pointed with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Two small flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with grey petals and a light grey central disk. The flower head is largely flat with many widely spaced narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like rotten eggs, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
