Burgundy Pine

This enormous shrub grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for around 37 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous long and flexible, wavy stems covered in delicate, waxy, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of large, 6 pointed, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid olive with silver zig-zags, delicate and fuzzy.

In late summer it produces large amounts of tiny, blood red blossoms with 9 circular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like pepper.

In mid-autumn triangular fruits ripen. The hairy orange skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the very soft cyan flesh is sour and oily. The vibrant green seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
