Crimsonvine

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 45 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of flexible, curved stems covered in cracked, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches are very short and thick with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of small, slender, pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid red with beige dots, rigid and clammy.

In late summer it produces thick bunches of small, violet flowers with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like honeysuckle.
