Burgundy Creeper

This huge creeper is a very slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 1,348 feet (410.9 meters) and growing as high as 294 feet (89.6 meters).

It takes 39 years for the burgundy stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 1.7 feet (51 cm) and are flat and wavy.

The asymmetrical, leathery leaves reach up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) in length. They are black at the bottom and green with turquoise patches at the top, and have jagged edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces several colossal dark brown flowers.
