Yellowheart

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 52 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous sturdy, straight stems covered in paper-thin, silky, yellow bark, and the wood inside is pine-coloured.

The branches are long and slender with thousands of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of huge, heart-shaped, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and grey, rigid and soft.

In mid-summer it produces several medium-sized, drab orange flowers with fan-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like burning wood.
