Crimson Succulent

This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The wispy stem is red, and is covered in sharp spines. The straight, grey trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its emerald branches are tall, rigid and upright and start growing at the base the stem.

The sparse amounts of toothed-edged, thin leaves are grey at the bottom and slate with orange edges at the top. They are strong, and do not detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are generally brown; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 12 petals in raised layers. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like mango.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the purple flesh is smooth, and the crimson sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
