Coniapple

This big fruit tree grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, twisting trunk covered in smooth, brown-green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of giant, spear shaped leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are vivid green with ashy green tips.

In early spring, it produces bunches of tiny, orange blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like rich perfume.

In mid-autumn it produces very large, spear-shaped fruit. The clammy light brown skin is peel-able and sweet and sour, and the very soft pastel red flesh is bitter and savoury and very dry. The crimson seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
