Bronzeberry

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 54 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a sturdy, curved trunk covered in delicate, smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow-brown.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of huge, 4 pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are orange and light brown.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, purple blossoms with 4 V-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like pine needles.

In late summer it produces small, broad, flat fruit. The sticky aquamarine skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft brown flesh is extremely sweet and very dry. The bronze seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
