Amber Spine Caudex

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The thick stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible amber spines. The straight, caramel trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its emerald and green branches are very short, thin and wispy and start growing halfway up the stem.

The large amounts of ripped-edged, perforated leaves are solid cyan with subtle blue lines. They are pliable, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are violet on the edges and pink at the center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of 8 raised, round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like blood.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the blood red flesh is smooth, and the caramel sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

The leaves are bland but very healthy.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
