This cream or peach moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In moorlands, In rainy mountain ranges, and In rainforests.
It is average-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they are exceptionally hardy, and is overwhelmingly light.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
