Caramel Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 23 feet (7.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, curved trunk covered in thick, cracked, yellow bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale yellow.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of small, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either grey, or caramel with copper lines.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, pink blossoms with oblong shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like baby powder.

In late summer it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The leathery cream skin is stretchy and sweet, and the slightly crunchy caramel flesh is sweet and juicy. The beige seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
