Brownfern

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 130 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many knobbly, straight stems covered in fine, silky, brown bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches are short and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, asymmetrical, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are white on the edges and dark brown at the center, flexible and smooth.

It produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, aquamarine flowers with oblong shaped petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like musk. In late summer it forms medium-sizedbronze, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
