Golden Spike Cactus

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall. The wide stem is green, and is covered in brittle gold spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 19 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid gold petals and a slate central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 9 petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like burning wood.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the aquamarine flesh is waxy, and the gold sap is thin.
