Bloodblossom

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 59 meters (193.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 185 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, waxy, light brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of fuzzy, small, stiff, pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid caramel or olive, with subtle green patches.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, blood red blossoms with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like coffee.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, grey, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
