Blueberry

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This massive shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 188 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several thick, straight stems covered in hard, knobbly, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches are very long and slender with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, finger-like, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either caramel, or sky blue with subtle green splotches, hardy and fuzzy.

In late spring it produces large amounts of tiny, silver blossoms with 4 oval-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like onion.

In early autumn small pleated fruits ripen. The smooth pink skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft sky blue flesh is bitter and syrupy. The crimson seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
